POSITION PURPOSE

 

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for providing human resources services to clients and client worksite employees while providing excellent client service via communication. The Human Resource Generalist monitors regulatory compliance, leave management and workers compensation claims for Tilson clients and directly delivers or assists in the delivery of other Human Resource services to clients and client employees.

 

Essential Functions

 

Essential functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

    • Deliver Human Resource support to Tilson clients, Tilson client employees and the Tilson HR Team.
      • Facilitating communication as liaison between client companies and Tilson.
      • Communicates frequently with Human Resource Advisors and operational team members (HR, WFI, and Payroll) regarding human resource issues and elevates concerns and feedback to department head.
      • Ensures communication and delivery of solutions that meet each client’s business and/or HR needs, including employee benefit plan information.
      • Acts as resource for Human Resource Advisors to assist with organizing, conducting and/or leading client meetings and assessments, and providing client feedback on HR operational issues.
    • Manages employee relations issues for clients. 
    • Coordinates, self-manages, completes and follows-up regarding special projects and/or addressing specific HR issues with clients, including but not limited to:
      • Review and creation of job descriptions.
      • Assists clients, employees and their dependents with questions related to benefit plans offered; including, but not limited to, claims issues, utilization concerns, plan changes, life status changes, benefit identification card requests, and appeals process.
      • Conduct compensation research and analysis.
    • Manage client employee leaves of absence in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and client leave policies.
    • Performs Consulting projects for clients (i.e. staffing administration, compensation, job descriptions, surveys) as requested.
    • Serves as designated subject matter expert (SME) in various Human Resource functions including legal requirements at federal, state and local levels.
  • Monitor employment laws and regulations in assigned states and municipalities; maintain federal, state, and local employment posters, and develop and deliver communications, policies, posters and updates to clients.
    • Provide back-up support for colleagues’ job functions including but not limited to unemployment, leave, and worker’s compensation administration, assessment coordination, and E-Verify
      • Help provide guidance to the HR Associates, and other HR Team members on technical compliance issues related to the same functional areas.
    • Assist with the training and development of other Human Resource teammates, including but not limited to Human Resource Associates and other Human Resource Team Members.

 

QUalification Requirements

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as subject matter specialist in a minimum of three identified primary areas of human resources performance (e.g., compensation, benefits, recruiting, performance management, legal and legislative issues, employee relations).
  • Minimum of 2 years Human Resources experience required.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and proof of insurance.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP (or pursuit of certification).

 

knowledge, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of HR operational areas including benefit plan administration, payroll administration, and HR compliance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English with both internal and external customers, including but not limited to colleagues, supervisors, management, clients, client employees, business partners, etc.
  • Ability to present in front of large and small groups on a variety of business-related and/or human resource-related topics.
  • Ability and experience effectively working with key decision makers (including business owners, managers, controllers); as well as being able to relate and communicate effectively with worksite employees.
  • Above average attention to detail necessary.
  • Organize, plan, and prioritize work for timely and accurate completion.
  • Conflict and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with frequent interruptions.
  • Independently manages projects and recurring tasks to ensure accurate and timely completion.
  • Mathematical skills to understand financial calculations and conduct computations as needed.

 

TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Ability to effectively use email (MS Outlook) and MS Office software programs as necessary.
  • Ability and willingness to effectively use other job-related technology tools, including but not limited to:
    • Image scanners, fax machines, and photocopiers
    • Multi-Line Phone System
    • Tilson Tool Kit
    • HRIS system

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to stand under 1/3 of the time.
  • Ability to walk under 1/3 of the time.
  • Ability to sit over 2/3 of the time.
  • Ability to talk or hear from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. under 1/3 of the time.
  • Driving to/from client sites and/or other locations for business-related purposes.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work environment is that of a fast paced office with minimal to high noise levels and moderate temperatures.
  • This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.
  • This position requires verbal and face-to-face contact with others on a daily basis.
  • Frequent use of a computer, general office equipment, and/or personal device (e.g., cell phone, tablet) is necessary.
  • The position requires client information be maintained appropriately confidential.
