POSITION PURPOSE:

The Payroll Associate is responsible for compiling, importing, and entering payroll data, such as hours worked, taxes, deductions, from time sheets and other records; ensures employees are paid accurately and on time; and keeps payroll files to date. Checks time-worked inputs for calculating, coding, importing, or other errors and makes applicable changes. Monitors the Toolkit Payroll Queue and enters data and reassigns tickets as indicated.

This is an entry-level position that supports the Payroll Specialist position

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Enters, maintains and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, and other information.
  • Issues pay cards for employees who opt-in.
  • Manages Payroll Queues in Toolkit.
  • Supports Payroll Specialists as needed for timely completion of job duties.
  • Assists Payroll Manager and Senior Management with various duties, projects, and initiatives as requested.
  • Serves as back up and works with Receptionist to issue, or reissue, physical checks as well as incoming and outgoing mail.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Experience with 6 months payroll related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to communicate with internal Tilson employees as well as external clients and client employees effectively and professionally in person, via email, telephone, or video meeting.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

None

 

TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Ability to effectively use email (MS outlook) and MS Office software programs, as necessary.
    • Highly proficient in Excel preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to effectively use other job-related technology tools.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Organize, plan, and prioritize work.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with frequent interruptions.
  • Identify complex problems, review related information to develop and evaluate options, then implement solutions.
  • Mathematical skills to understand financial calculations and conduct computations as needed.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to stand under one-third of the time.
  • Ability to walk under one-third of the time.
  • Ability to sit over two-thirds of the time.
  • Ability to talk or hear from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
  • Ability to lift over 20lbs. under one-third of the time.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to work in a remote at home environment that is conducive to protected health information, secure records, and system access points.
  • The office environment is fast paced with minimal to high noise levels and moderate temperatures.
  • This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.
  • This position requires verbal and face-to-face contact with others daily.
  • Frequent use of a computer is necessary.
  • This position requires the use of all general office equipment.
